The Buffalo Bills are currently trailing the Washington Redskins by a score of 21-9 at halftime. Here are three of the biggest takeaways from the first half.
Corey White continues to impress
Cornerback Corey White had a fabulous game last weekend against the New York Giants, breaking up four passes in the process. He continued that trend in the first quarter, beating a Washington receiver to his spot, tipping the ball up and intercepting the pass on the way down. A fantastic effort for a player seemingly destined to make the 53-man roster.
Lorenzo Alexander a terror off the edge
The Bills need a pass rushing option opposite Jerry Hughes and it appears they may have their starter as the team awaits Shaq Lawson’s return from shoulder surgery. Lorenzo Alexander took Washington’s right tackle Morgan Moses to the woodshed with a vicious spin move before being flagged, rather controversially, for roughing the passer. Alexander also drew a hands to the face flag from the Redskins right tackle.
Missed tackles continue to pile up
The theme of the second quarter was ineffective tackling. Duke Williams, Kevon Seymour, Kroy Biermann and David Hawthorne all missed tackles on the same drive. Cornerback Sterling Moore missed another that led to a touchdown for Redskins wide receiver Ryan Grant.
